NEW PRESIDENT - MICK ALDRIDGE
We are delighted to announce that Mick Aldridge has been elected President of the Highett FNC at the AGM this month.
Mick has been involved in the club since his son Charlie started playing with our juniors several years ago, and in the last couple of years has been Vice President – Senior section of the club. In this time he has overseen our football and netball operations, and been instrumental in coaching appointments, training bases for netballers, finding trainers for our teams and supporting Boothy in many other activities. He is a natural successor to Boothy and has already built some great relationships with the league and other clubs. He also pulled the boots on this year for a game with the mighty thirds, and kicked a goal which will be talked about for years. Mick, his wife Jenny and children Charlie (aka Buckets) and Ruby have been wonderful club people to date and we look forward to continued success with Mick at the helm.
Daniel Booth has stepped back from the Presidency but hasn’t gone far, and will assume the role of Vice President – Seniors. In this role he will continue to build the relationships between the players and coaches, the supporter base and the club itself, whilst Mick is the primary contact for external parties, such as the SFNL, the other clubs, Bayside Super rules, Bayside cricket club and any other group we need to work with to operate successfully.
Jason McGrath, Martin Burke and Graham Dudley will continue on as Vice President – Juniors, Secretary and Treasurer respectively.
Other committee members elected were Elijah Shawcroft, Chris Harms, Josh Bruneau, Damian Straford, Luke Crocker, Amy Booth and Sophie Llinares. There may be one or two more to add to the committee as we move into 2024.
Thanks to those who have served on the committee in previous years and are now standing down. In particular we would like to thank Mark Prosser for many years (if not decades) of service on the committee. There is no bigger Highett man than Spud, and he will continue to play a role in managing our ground allocation and maintenance.
Highett FNC are thrilled to announce that Lou Folino will be coaching the under 19s in 2024!
Lou comes to us with a wealth of knowledge and experience after mentoring young players for many years, which includes him being a development coach with Sandy Dragons under 16’s team, and St.Kilda Next Generation coach. He has also previously had a senior assistant role at Hampton Rovers and coach of their under 19s team.
He is no stranger to the Highett as he coached a Cheltenham/Highett junior team which includes some of our currently under 19s players.
We would like to welcome Lou, his wife Roz, and 3 sons Anthony, Thomas and Marcus to Highett Football Netball Club!
We’ve got some great news with Macklin Raine joining us as a senior assistant coach in season 2024.
Macklin previously played for HFNC in 2019, being named in the best players 9 of 11 games.
Previously he played for Frankston YCW and Frankston Dolphins VFL side. After his year with us he starred for Seaford and was widely recognised as the premier ruckman of the competition, once being recorded with 90 hit outs in a game (ask him about his 80m goal as well).
This year Mack tore his ACL so had to stop playing but ventured into assistant coaching with Seaford and loved the coaching side of football.
Big Mack is keen to learn from Clint and the coaching group and will bring a professional style of coaching and has a real thirst for learning. Mack will work with our mids and has a passion for ruckwork so will help develop our rucks as well.
We believe Mack will be a massive asset to the club for a long time to come.
Help us welcome back Big Mack and his fiancé Aine!
